So, I was at the India store for buying Puja items and groceries for making Prasad for Mandir. Although my idea was to prepare Rice Kheer still, I bought a big Makhana packet thinking I will prepare Makhana Kheer for the Prasad. Never in my life till now I have prepared Makhana Kheer and I did not want to take a chance or rather say risk as I was preparing first time for Madir Prasad, so to be on the safer side I prepare what I am best at, Rice Kheer. And the Kheer was delicious. ❤ The Makhana packet was lying in the pantry as it is. And, what’s the best way to use the whole packet of Makhana when you have two munching mouths at home? 😀 And that’s how I got the idea of making Roasted Makhana.
Who says healthy can’t be tasty? Today I am sharing an absolutely tasty, addictive, and healthy snack made with very little oil. Choose your own seasoning and enjoy the crispy puffed Makhana. You can add your favorite spices to the roasted Makhana and it’s ready. I have added peanuts for my peanut lover in the house. Feel free to skip if you want.
A very easy, quick, and healthy snack for your tea-time, mid-meal munching. Or rather I should say, a perfect munching snack, anytime.
Curry leaves again is very beneficial and it gives a very nice flavor to the roasted snacks. It’s widely used in South India. Adding curry leaves to the roasted Makhana and peanuts gives a very nice flavor and enhances the taste too. I suggest adding curry leaves.
To get the perfect crunchy Makhanas, roast them on medium-low flame until you get crispy and crunchy Makhanas. Fry the peanuts separately, and once the peanuts are fried then add the curry leaves as frying curry leaves for a longer time will burn them. Mix them with roasted Makhana Store them in an airtight container once they cool down completely, and enjoy whenever you want.
Roast them! Store them! and Enjoy them! And, if you are planning to shed some extra belly fat? Then this is the best snack for you. Replace your deep fried or unhealthy snack with this healthy roasted snack. Have a happy week ahead. Do try this recipe and let me know in the comment section/ email that how it turned out for you and your family. 🙂
