Hello there! ❤
I am back with another weekend getaway. Our latest weekend getaway was to Santa Barbara and Solvang, and I have already shared the travelogue post about Santa Barbara. As promised, I am here with my Solvang’s experience.
A 30-45minutes drive from Santa Barbara and you will reach a beautiful destination, Solvang, very different and unique from other USA cities.
Solvang- A cute little Danish-style town in Southern California’s beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Solvang city is mainly known for its beautiful and colorful architecture, a Danish-style architecture, its wineries, and its relaxed and peaceful lifestyle. In Solvang, you will find many Danish bakeries, Danish Restaurants, Museum, gift shops selling antique gifts.
The word Solvang means “Suny Fields” and Solvang was founded in 1911 by three Danish immigrants in the rolling hills of Santa Ynez. With its Danish-style beautiful architecture and famous bakeries, the place has become a tourist attraction now.
When you come from a city of beautiful beaches, San Diego, and spend every alternate weekend at the beach then, this is the perfect getaway for you to explore. 😀 A day or two is perfect to explore the beautiful village, depending upon how much in depth you explore the place.

Old-Fashioned Windmills
You will find cute old-fashioned windmills in many corners of the Solvang that has now converted into small businesses.
The Beautiful Architecture Of Solvang
Solvang has a rich traditional Danish heritage and it is reflected by its architecture. Solvang is a beautiful, little, and less crowded Europe in the USA It’s the colorful and beautiful architecture that attracts tourists and spending a day or two is totally worth it.
Solvang At Night
As soon as the sun sets down the village looks more and more beautiful. So calm, peaceful, relaxed. You won’t see much crowd or it won’t be 100% wrong to say, you will hardly see people outside. And, on weekend, you will see a few bunches of people here and there. That’s it! Enjoy a relaxed walk on an empty road with a cool breeze kissing your face, which otherwise never happens in a hush-hush life a fast-moving city.
Solvang Festival Theater
The Outdoor theater operates primarily from June through September/October. It was closed at the time when we were visiting. I had to compromise by taking a picture only. But it’s a fun to sit in the outdoor area and just relax after walking through the beautiful village.
